Split.it originated as a solution to a persistent challenge faced by our team during our time at Johns Hopkins University: the complex and often chaotic process of scheduling group activities through spreadsheets. Many college and university students can relate to the struggle of managing the notorious travel spreadsheet, which circulates through group chats filled with contact information, flight details, and multiple schedules.

After conducting thorough research among our peers, we recognized an opportunity to centralize this information. Our goal was to create a platform that simplifies access and enhances visibility for all members involved. This led us to expand our initial concept beyond travel coordination, aiming to assist users in organizing weekly grocery shopping trips, social outings, and various shared activities.
